Let Me See That Again
| Two
curved shaped cards appear to be the same size. But then one shrinks, or does the
other one grow? No, there're both the same size. This trick is an optical illusion. Both cards are the same size, but depending upon the way you show them, one appears larger. Print and cut out two red cards from the bottom of this page. Then follow the instructions. You might fool yourself. |

Hold the cards side-by-side with the longer edge toward the ground. Cards are held between thumb and index fingers of each and on the bottom left and right corners. (figure 1) Show they are the same size, then blow on the cards. This does nothing, but your audience thinks it does. Move one of the cards over the other card. It will seem to grow. (figure 2) |
| After a few moments for reaction,
say that you will make the top card shrink. Blow on the cards again and move the
bottom card to a position over the top card. Wait for the reaction. Blow on the cards again and move the cards side by side once again where they will be the same size. |
